Letter to Younger Self

Dear Younger Self,

As a teenager, I know you feel lost, confused like you don’t belong. And most times you don’t love yourself. But I’m here to encourage you and give you the knowledge that’s essential for the health of your future. Your identity is not what people say you are, how they treat you, or who abandoned you. Your identity is in Christ. Stand on the word of God. Here are a few scriptures that I pray will make you aware of how loved and important you are by God. Song of Solomon 4:7 NASB says “You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you.” Psalms 139:13-14 NKJV says “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

See what God says about you is far more important than what these fleshy humans treat and say about you. Galatians 1:10 is a great reminder, it says “For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.”

Whatever God places in you, with the help of the Holy Spirit he will equip you to do; Let the words (scriptures) plant the seed in your heart to know who you are and to whom you belong.

I know you have accepted Christ at a young age, but start reading the Bible for yourself. The only way you can gain knowledge and wisdom is by feasting on God’s word. 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV says “Study to shew thyself approved unto God.

Get in the habit of speaking what God says about you and positive affirmations to yourself. Just because someone doesn’t say (add your name in the blanks) _______ you’re beautiful, (_______) you’re smart, I love you, you can do anything doesn’t mean that you’re not those things. The truth is who God says you are. I’m about to end this letter but I command you to love yourself, read the Bible, speak positive affirmations to yourself, let go of all of your hurt, don’t harbor unforgiveness in your heart, forgive others that have hurt you and move on. You will not get every apology you think you deserve or should have. Your healing is in truly loving yourself, forgiving others, and leaning and depending on God and his word.❤️

Your Older Self

P.S. You will be healed, you will overcome, you will know and be confident of who you are in Christ. You will be bold in your Faith. You will use all of your gifts to bring God glory.
