Confessions of My Low Moments in Life

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.” ‭‭ROMANS‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭AMP‬‬ Hey! I know we are all familiar with Romans 8:28. For some of us, it’s our favorite scripture. It affirms us that every heartache, disappoint, rejection, trials and tribulations may not feel good, but God works everything together for our good.

During my quiet time with God, He reminded me of that scripture. In my journal, I write to God daily, but for the last week and a half, I haven’t. In my journal this morning, I expressed how I’ve been feeling these last two weeks. I’ve experienced highs and lows but mostly lows. Honestly, I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster because I’m at the level where I’m still learning to be comfortable sharing my low places. Every day I’m learning to be gentle with my process and journey.

I keep telling myself...

I AM progressing;

IT’S happening little by little; and

GIRL, stop beating yourself up.

The enemy loves to make us feel like we’re the only ones going through or feeling like this. He likes to plant negative thoughts in our minds.

“How can you be a Christian and your emotionally unstable?”

“How can you be a light to others and you haven’t delivered from that?”

“Don’t tell anyone you’re feeling like that, they will judge you?”

We all fall prey to the attacks of the enemy especially the battle that happens in our minds.

The enemy’s job is to attack us when we are weak. He knows our weaknesses; he studies us, and that’s how we remain in cycles. You know those areas that’s sensitive to talk about yet confront.

Scripture tells us to “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 NLT

As I was pouring out my feelings, I asked God to strengthen me, carry me through this valley.

Instantly, he comforted me, and with tears in my eyes, he said “Each high and low has a purpose. I’m with you, I haven’t left you. You may feel defeated, low, but where you are right now is serving a purpose. Lessons are being taught, you’re growing spiritually, your faith is increasing. There is no need to feel discouraged, your experiences are someone else’s healing and deliverance. Don’t be ashamed, cry through it, pray through it. Grow through it.”

I encourage you to live through it. But don’t give up! Your pain has a purpose.

Prayer: Dear God, Your word tells us you work everything together for our good. Everything we have gone through and will go through is for a purpose. Help us not to waver in our faith during trials, but help us remember that you are always with us. In Jesus' name, amen!
