Are You Losing Confidence Due to Comparison?

As I was getting dressed, God quietly whispered, I have given you everything you need to do and be what I’ve called you to do.

Silence.

Honestly, about four to six weeks, I fell off track. Instead of staying in my lane and focusing on my God-given gifts, I compared myself and journey to others. I was focusing on what I didn’t have. Saying I don’t have the resources nor the funds to match my vision. This stage I’m in: is it normal?

Within that time, I picked apart the things about me that differ totally from what I saw on vlogs, social media, and YouTube.

I told God:

I'm not a Bible scholar.

I'm an introvert.

I don't wear make-up.

I enjoy dressing up, but not all of the time.

I'm not good at public speaking.

I'm not popular.

How can I make an impact? I am so different.

Excuses Excuses Excuses. I was looking at my strength and not God’s. So busy focusing on other people and not the giver of life. (Psalm 36:9)

God instantly affirmed me with these two scriptures:

“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." 2 Corinthians 12:9

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah ‭1:5‬

Then God asked me what’s the scripture for Chasing After You. I said Matthew 6:33, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

He spoke and said, "I am the ACCESS." Seek me in all things. Nothing else will suffice. I will equip you, do you not trust me? Have faith and be OBEDIENT.

The Lord is all we need. Psalm 16:5

Which leads me to question. How many times do we go out of the will of God to skip the pruning phase to get microwave results? We are so caught up in this fast pace of life we want everything quick. We want the blessings and fruit without the cultivating. We think our way and timing is best.

The scripture says “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!" ‭‭John‬ ‭15:5-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How many of us need a reminder? It’s not by our might or our power, but by my, Spirit says the Lord. Zechariah 4:6

We have so much faith in humans made of dust, the connections and platform we think we should have; we deny the real source. Our focus is on other businesses, platforms, ministries, the quantity, and likes. The real source is JESUS.

Guess what? Everyone has their process. We don’t know what they went through or did to get their platform. We compare what we see, and lack the discernment to see behind the scenes.

Trust the process. Be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

2 Chronicles 15:7

I want to encourage you to be OBEDIENT and do the last thing God told you to do before moving too quickly. Remember, God equips those he called. Don't compare your season and journey to others. STAY IN YOUR LANE and trust the process. Continue to work on what God has given you. Be confident and know that God has called you for a time such as this.

Prayer: Dear God, forgive me for comparing myself to others. Help me to focus on you. Give me boldness and full confidence in whom you've called me to be. Help me see myself the way you see me. Reveal the things in my heart that causes me to compare and deliver me. My identity comes from you alone. God, I ask that you set my heart on fire for you and let my only desire be to please you. In Jesus' name. Amen
